Simulation analysis of school traffic organization optimization in Cuihua Road primary school during peak hours

Due to the high intensity and complexity of the traffic flow in front of primary schools during peak hours, as well as the government's great attention to the safety of primary school students, it has always been an important topic in the management of urban traffic organization. Taking Cuihua Road Primary School as the research object, field research and data analysis of the current situation of the road traffic in front of the school during the peak hours are carried out, and four optimization schemes are proposed: adding special temporary parking area for pick-up vehicles, optimizing intersection signal phasing, setting temporary signal control in front of school and comprehensive optimization. SUMO simulation platform was used to simulate the current traffic and optimization schemes. The results show that there are some problems in signal timing at the intersection of Cuihua Road-Yucai Road, after optimization, the intersection and the road section in front of Cuihua Road Primary School will form a coordinated control, which will effectively improve the vehicle congestion; setting up a temporary parking space for pick-up vehicles will have a greater improvement in pick-up efficiency and transit vehicle traffic efficiency.
