Research on the Al‐Based Functional Film Characteristics: Effect of Surface Wear Marks on Radiation Damage
Near‐infrared (NIR) stray light in high‐energy laser systems presents a significant challenge to the successful implementation of inertial confinement fusion engineering. Preparing Al‐based functional films on aluminum alloy structural components is one of the most effective approaches to address this issue. However, frequent optical path adjustments and in situ replacement of optical crystals lead to significant friction during service cycles, resulting in surface wear marks and debris. Wear debris compromises the cleanliness of closed systems, while wear marks undermine structural integrity, potentially lowering the threshold for radiation damage and exacerbating cleanliness risks to the system. This study experimentally investigates the tribological properties of aluminum alloy components and Al‐based functional films. Using a multiscale multiphysics coupling simulation model and in situ experimental methods, the effects of surface wear marks on the NIR stray light radiation damage behavior of aluminum alloys and functional films are revealed. Studies have shown that the preparation of aluminum‐based functional films reduces the adverse effects of surface wear on radiation damage of aluminum alloy structural parts and improves NIR absorption, damage threshold and wear resistance.
