Feasibility Assessment of Lazy Wave Risers in Wet Storage: A Proposal for a Robust and Safe Design in Ultra-Deepwater Field
Abstract This paper introduces a novel proposal for the analysis of the integrity and feasibility of lazy wave risers in deep-sea wet storage conditions. The study primarily investigates the structural integrity of the riser in a lazy wave configuration during wet storage scenario condition, focusing on fatigue due to Vortex-Induced Vibration (VIV) and extreme loads induced by currents. It presents a thorough evaluation of key environmental parameters that pose significant challenges in the field and due to engineering project constraints. The scope does not encompass deployment, recovery, and pull-in phases. This study highlights the importance of rigorous integrity checks and the development of robust design proposals to ensure the safety and efficiency of these critical stages of offshore oil and gas systems.
