An Innovative and Successful Subsea Approach for BS-4 Atlanta Field Development

Abstract This paper presents an innovative and successful subsea construction work case performed in March 2023 by a semi-submersible drilling rig in Atlanta Field, offshore Brazil, describing the motivation, opportunities and the development of the concept, engineering, viability and outcomes to the transition from Atlanta Early Production System (EPS) to the Full Field Development (FFD). The EPS comprises three wells in a drill center nominated by ‘South Cluster’ connected to the FPSO Petrojarl I, producing since 2018. As part of Atlanta FFD, three new wells have been drilled – two in the ‘North Cluster’ and one in the ‘South Cluster’ which is the object of this paper. The same semi-submersible Drilling rig who carried the promising well 7-ATL-5H-RJS drilling performed subsequent interconnection as part of the transition to the Atlanta FFD achieving a major milestone for the industry.
