Modularization and Standardization of Subsea Components Applied to the Development of New Subsea Injection and Treatment System

Abstract Modularization and standardization in subsea equipment are key to success in markets focused on reliability, financial returns, and operational security. A complete solution of integrated components reduces delivery lead times, enhances competitiveness, and optimize costs from field layout to end-of-life operations. This project highlights the successful implementation of Compact Manifolds in oil and gas fields off the African coast, along with the integration of this technology into subsea processing and boosting equipment, particularly the SDWI - Subsea Desulphated Water Injection system. The Compact Manifold employs a modular design, leveraging the same principles proven by the extensive family of equipment. It is a success reference to enable the Modular and Compact SDWI optimization, to integrate flow control components, connections, and premises for subsea structures construction, with submarine processing components, all ready to be combined with advanced processes methods like filtration, disinfection, and desulfation techniques. Due to the complexity of these systems, which feature large volumes and significant weight, specific solutions are required to ensure reliability and efficiency during manufacturing, testing, offshore installation as well as life of field maintenance. In this context, modularization principles become essential, as the sharing of components and concepts also facilitate maintenance, reducing lead time. A significant benefit is the ability to maintain operational continuity during subsea interventions, drastically reducing downtime, which leads to more efficient operations with fewer interruptions. The system's innovative capability can relocate water treatment equipment to the seabed making it a key focus, offering valuable insights into subsea processing solutions.
