PROTOCOLOS DE RADIOPROTEÇÃO NA ODONTOLOGIA: ESTRATÉGIAS PARA REDUÇÃO DA EXPOSIÇÃO DO PACIENTE
Radioprotection in Dentistry plays an essential role in patient safety, as exposure to ionizing radiation, although necessary for accurate diagnoses, can lead to cumulative biological risks. This study aimed to examine the main radioprotection strategies used in Dentistry to minimize patient exposure without compromising the quality of diagnostic imaging. To achieve this, a literature review was conducted using the scientific databases Google Scholar, SciELO, and PubMed, analyzing recent studies on the impact of radiation on health, the effectiveness of protection protocols, and technological innovations aimed at reducing radiation doses. The results indicate that, despite advancements in exposure minimization techniques, challenges remain in the systematic implementation of these practices, mainly due to variability in the adoption of protective measures among professionals. It is concluded that the combination of technological innovation, improvement of clinical practices, and continuous professional training is essential to ensure a safe balance between diagnostic benefits and radiological protection, promoting safer and more effective Dentistry.
