The weakening of clan ties and the strengthening of the patrimonial principle in the relations of the Rurik princes at the beginning of the 14th century
The article examines the evolution of relations of the princely family of Rurik in the first decade of the 14th century. The labels of the Mongol khans to the Russian princes violated horizontal connections in society and created conditions for the transition from the patrimonial, or ladder, principle of transferring power by princes to the patrimonial principle, to the formation of the order of securing Russian lands for individual princely families and transferring them in a direct descending line. The new principle of transferring power from father to son began to spread to the highest authority - the great throne in Vladimir.
