ASSESSMENT OF THE LEVEL OF PAIN IN THE TREATMENT OF PLANTAR FASCIITIS BY EXTRACORPOREAL SHOCK WAVE THERAPY
Background. Plantar fasciitis (PF) is a common disease that causes pain in the foot and heel. Heel discomfort is associated with the development of plantar fasciitis in both active and sedentary older adults. People who are obese and people who spend most of their time on their feet are more susceptible to the disease. Most interventions used to treat plantar fasciitis are poorly studied. Purpose. The purpose of this study is to compare the most common treatment methods that have the best effect in patients with plantar fasciitis. Methods. PubMed, Scopus, Embase, Ovid (Medline) and PEDro databases were used to search for information. This study outlined treatments for plantar fasciitis, or “heel spurs,” the latest forms of treatment for treatment-resistant types of plantar fasciitis. Treatments for planar fasciitis, or “heel pain,” have important scientific and practical implications. Results. As a result of the analysis of the literature and research studies, treatment methods for plantar fasciitis have been systematized that reduce pain, increase functional level, muscle performance, joint range of motion and quality of life. Conclusion. Treatment for PF may include wearing orthotics, stretching exercises for the ankle muscles and tendons, steroid injections, and the use of specially designed night stabilizers. Special attention is paid to the study of extracorporeal shock wave therapy as the most gentle and effective conservative treatment method for both athletes with chronic heel pain and other patients.
