Community Impacts of Acceptance Villagers' use of Desalinated Water in South Sinai Governorate

The research aimed to identify the respondents' level of acceptance of the use of desalinated water, identify the influencing factors in their acceptance, the most societal impacts of their acceptance of the use of desalinated water, and the most problems facing drinking water and suggestions to solve it. The systematic random sample involved 200 household heads in the villages of Abu Suwayra and Ras Masla in Ras Sedr district, south Sinai Governorate. Data were collected using a questionnaire by personal interview during of month December 2024, the statistical methods used (frequencies, percentages, weight average), correlation coefficients, chi square and multiple regression tests. The results indicated that most respondents by 76% were low and medium of respondents' level of acceptance of the use of desalinated water. There is a significant correlation between the respondents' level of acceptance and the variables: educational level, monthly income, satisfaction with services, sources of information about desalinated water, knowledge of desalinated water. While the results of multiple regression indicate that more than 11.4%, 4.5%, 3.3%, and 1.6%, of the variance in respondents' level of acceptance of the use of desalinated water are explained by knowledge of desalinated water, monthly income, sources of information desalinated water, and satisfaction with services, respectively. The most important social impacts were reducing the pressure on Nile water in agricultural activities, the most important health impacts change the taste of desalinated water compared to natural water, and the most environmental impacts were being environmental pollution because of increased carbon emissions in region.
