Sebaceous gland carcinoma of eyelid: A great masquerader
Sebaceous gland carcinoma (SGC) of eyelid is a rare tumor of the eyelid and commonly arises from the meibomian glands, occasionally from the glands of Zeiss or sebaceous glands in caruncle. It can mimic many inflammatory and neoplastic lesions like chalazion, basal cell carcinoma, and squamous cell carcinoma; hence, it is notoriously called a masquerader. The histopathological diagnosis is the mainstay for the diagnosis and is often challenging. The authors report a rare case of SGC of eyelid in a 60-year-old female which was erroneously reported as squamous cell carcinoma.
