O ESTUDO DAS MANIFESTAÇÕES PATOLÓGICAS EM VIGAS DE CONCRETO ARMADO EM UMA EDIFICAÇÃO RESIDENCIAL LOCALIZADA EM MANAUS/AM
Engineering has faced significant challenges in dealing with pathologies in reinforced concrete, especially in beams, as these issues are directly related to the quality and durability of buildings. Therefore, preventing and addressing these manifestations is of utmost importance for the safety and aesthetics of constructions. This paper aims to identify and propose simple, efficient, and appropriate solutions for each pathology found in a specific reinforced concrete (RC) structure. To achieve this, a case study was conducted on a two-story residential building located in Manaus, Amazonas. Definitions of reinforced concrete and the most common pathologies affecting it were discussed, including their causes and consequences, as well as how to handle such pathological manifestations through technical specifications. In the case study, based on an on-site survey and photographic report, the conditions of the beams in the building’s structure were assessed, revealing the presence of pathological manifestations such as reinforcement corrosion, cracks, and concrete segregation. Subsequently, recovery measures were suggested to stabilize the deterioration and prevent new occurrences in other parts of the structure, thus avoiding excessive resource expenditure on treatment. It was observed that the main issues were linked to poor construction practices and/or low-quality materials used in the concrete mix. This study highlights the importance of investigating pathologies in such buildings, ensuring greater safety for occupants and preventing major future tragedies.
