Effect of Graphene on Ethylene Methyl Acrylate (EMA) Copolymer for Flexible Electronic Application
ABSTRACT Fabrication of high permittivity with minimal dielectric loss, highly flexible and lightweight ethylene methyl acrylate (EMA), and graphene (G) nanocomposites garnered much interest in the energy systems and current electrical fields. Using the melt mixing method, a sequence of (0, 0.5, 1, 2, 4, 6, and 8) wt% graphene‐loaded EMA nanocomposites was prepared. An increment in tensile strength and tensile modulus is observed up to 4 wt% graphene‐loaded EMA/graphene nanocomposites. A 46.9% and 29.19% increment in tensile strength and tensile modulus is reported for composite with 4 wt% graphene. The crystallinity (%) has improved by 29.79, as confirmed by XRD measurements. Compared to pure EMA, thermal stability and hydrophobicity of 6 wt% graphene‐loaded EMA nanocomposites are increased by 15°C and 24°C, respectively. Electrical and dielectric behavior were investigated over a 1 Hz–1 MHz frequency region at ambient temperature. In this study, 8 wt% graphene‐loaded EMA/graphene nanocomposite exhibited high permittivity (105.2) with minimal dielectric loss (0.1) values at 1 Hz frequency. This advantageous improvement in electrical characteristics suggests that the nanocomposite is suitable for use in flexible electronic storage systems.
