SPECIFICITY OF RUSSIAN NONVERBAL COMMUNICATION
This article explores non-verbal communication in Russian culture, emphasizing greater psychological trust in non-verbal signals than in verbal ones. It considers how natural and climatic conditions shape Russian spatial perceptions and provides a cultural analysis of the concepts "space" and "expanse." It also compares the communication distances in Hall's American model with Medvedeva's Russian approach. This study examines kinesics, proxemics, and haptics in Russian greetings and farewells through examples from folklore and works by A.S. Pushkin, A.P. Chekhov, and I.S. Turgenev, showing how nonverbal communication reflects social status, emotional states, and relationships. These findings are crucial for understanding the national communication identity.
