Literature Review: Penerapan Metode Quasi Eksperimen pada Penelitian Pengaruh Resistance Training terhadap Penurunan Kadar Gula Darah Penderita Diabetes Mellitus Tipe 2
Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (T2DM) represents an increasingly pressing public health challenge in Indonesia. Physical activity, particularly resistance exercise, demonstrates potential for improving glycemic control among individuals with diabetes. This literature review analyzes the application of quasi-experimental research methods used to assess the impact of resistance exercise on blood glucose levels in individuals with T2DM in Indonesia. A comprehensive literature search was conducted utilizing two primary databases, PubMed and Google Scholar, following the PRISMA checklist guidelines. The search employed specific keywords, including "resistance exercise," "Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus," and "blood glucose levels," and applied rigorous methodological criteria. Articles were selected based on thematic relevance, language (English and Indonesian), publication date between 2018 and 2024, open access availability, and the use of a quasi-experimental research design. A total of four articles met the inclusion criteria and were analyzed. The findings indicate that resistance exercise significantly enhances glycemic control, potentially by improving glucose uptake and insulin sensitivity. This review also identified several limitations in the analyzed studies, including a lack of in-depth exploration of specific molecular mechanisms and insufficient comparative analysis with alternative interventions. Consequently, the application of quasi-experimental methods in research investigating the effect of resistance exercise on lowering blood glucose levels in T2DM patients demonstrates significant utility.
