Art mediation as a method of risk management for creative project teams in conditions of uncertainty

In this article, the authors review and present the theoretical aspects of the use of art mediation in the field of culture and arts, its role and importance for the interaction of cultural institutions with various social groups. The authors offer a view of art mediation in this area from the perspective of its direct purpose – resolving conflicts and disputes in the teams of cultural institutions and creative project teams. The approaches to the work of a corporate psychologist and a mediator are considered and analysed, resulting in the development of a matrix of distribution of functions between a corporate psychologist and a mediator. Based on the analysis, the authors present the arguments for the expediency and necessity of applying art mediation approaches in creative organisations in general and in art projects in particular. At the same time, the authors do not diminish the importance of the work of a corporate psychologist, but consider the possibility of combining these two roles, if possible for a cultural institution. A 6-stage method of risk management for creative project teams under conditions of uncertainty is developed and described, which involves the involvement of an art mediator in the implementation of such projects. The qualifications of an art mediator are defined, who must have a basic education in psychology, undergo mediation training, and be knowledgeable in the artistic field. In particular, in the area where they plan to carry out their art mediation activities. This method is aimed at reducing tension, improving cooperation and increasing the level of performance, both individual and collective, resolving disputes and conflicts through compromise, without allowing destructive consequences for the art project. In general, his work will help to increase the efficiency of art projects. The authors emphasise the importance of the role of an art mediator as a key element for creating a healthy working atmosphere and successful teamwork on creative projects.
