Integrating ICT in English Language Teaching: Innovation and Challenges
This qualitative study investigates the integration of information and communication technology (ICT) in English language teaching (ELT), focusing on both innovations and challenges. Conducted over six months at Institut Prima Bangsa, the research involved 25 purposively selected participants—15 students and 10 lecturers—through semi-structured interviews, classroom observations, and literature analysis. Findings reveal that tools such as learning management systems (LMS), AI-based applications, and gamification foster student engagement, autonomy, and personalized learning. However, the implementation of ICT is often constrained by digital literacy gaps, limited infrastructure, and educator resistance. The study underscores the need for ongoing professional development, enhanced access to ICT, and supportive institutional policies. By identifying key trends and obstacles, the research offers practical insights for optimizing ICT integration in language education and enriching learner-centered pedagogies. Keywords: Challenges; English language teaching; ICT; Innovations
