Abstract

This article presents hysteresis current controlled <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$\mathbf{3}-\boldsymbol{\phi}$</tex> Active Power Filter (APF) employed system aimed enhancing power nature through compensation of harmonics, and demanded reactive power of non-linear load. Shunt AF uses straightforward practice utilizing FFT to determine compensation ref. current. Series AF adopts elementary process on p-q method for compensation ref. voltage. Unified Power Quality Conditioner (UPQC), comprising series & shunt AF connected back-to-back, patterned to d-q-o synchronous rotating ref. axes. Shunt AF neutralizes source's harmonics current and sustain DC link voltage whereas, series AF addresses load harmonics voltage. Traditional filters often underperform in rapidly changing stages, but auto-tuned AF achieve superiority in minimizing harmonics, compensating reactive power & improving pf. Also, paper discusses simulation operation to keep Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) in IEEE-519 standards.
