DSOGI Based Power Quality Control with Grid Connected SECS

The paper presents a grid-connected solar energy conversion system (SECS) designed to deliver power both to the grid and a nonlinear load. It utilizes a Dual Second Order Generalized Integrator (DSOGI) controller for a D-STATCOM-type Voltage Source Converter (VSC). In comparison with traditional algorithms, this controller ensures balanced grid currents, corrects the power factor to unity, and mitigates harmonics even under challenging conditions such as unbalanced nonlinear loads, variations in solar irradiation, and grid voltage disturbances. The Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) algorithm, based on the Perturb and Observe (P&O) method, is implemented to optimize power extraction from the photovoltaic array. The system's performance and robustness are tested by giving practice disturbance that includes load imbalances and sudden changes in solar irradiation. The real-time performance of the system is also evaluated using the Opal-RT OP4510 simulator. The study fully complies with harmonic control standards IEEE std. 519.

Abstract
