Multi-objective Optimization Approach for EV Hosting Capacity Maximization of Distribution Networks with Renewable Generations
The increasing integration of electric vehicle (EV) loads and renewable-based generators in distribution networks necessitates the evaluation of EV hosting capacity (EVHC) of distribution networks in presence of renewable generations for their stable and reliable operations. EVHC of a network is defined as the maximum amount of EV load that can be accommodated by a network without violating its operational limits. This paper presents a multi-objective optimization approach to maximize EVHC of distribution networks with renewable generations. Minimization of total cost of placement of renewable-based generators including cost of energy loss and maximization of EVHC of distribution networks are considered as the optimization objectives. Pareto-dominance principle-based multi-objective particle swarm optimization (MOPSO) is used to determine a set of non-dominated solutions which clearly show that the considered objectives are conflicting with each other. The proposed approach is validated on 33-bus distribution network.
