An Adaptive Non Superconducting Fault Current Limiter for Low Voltage Ride-Through for Protection of DFIG Wind Generator

Wind energy is getting considerable attention due to its efficiency and reliability. However, the effectiveness relies on the environmental condition, as it depends on the wind speed. The incorporation of energy storage reduces its intermittency effect. Various types of wind generators are available, where doubly fed induction generator (DFIG) is an important generator due to its rigid construction. The direct coupling of the stator with the grid results a high sensitivity in the system. The fault occurrence affects the stator terminal and hence the overall system. To safeguard the DFIG system an adaptive non super conducting fault current limiter (ANSFCL) is designed in this paper. To gauge its efficacy it is developed under various scenarios. The fault consequences are evaluated under various uncertainties conditions which is useful under severe fault condition. The simulation is being carried out using MATLAB Simulink based environment.
