Implementation of Proactive Load Shedding for a Power Management Systems on a Running Offshore Platform
The idea of documenting the performance and operational experiences of a Power Management System (PMS) over a period of at least five years following commissioning is indeed valuable for the industrial electrical power community. This kind of long-term analysis provides insights into the system's reliability, identifies operational challenges that may arise post-installation, and highlights the evolution and enhancements made to the system for improved functionality. The idea behind this paper is to tell the story of how a PMS that integrates Gas Turbine and Steam Turbine at an offshore production facility is highly valuable. This narrative can provide valuable insights into the challenges and successes encountered during commissioning and operation over an extended period. Key aspects to consider for the paper includes: Operational Challenges: Highlight any unknown operational difficulties that emerged post-installation. Discuss how these challenges were identified, analyzed, and addressed to ensure continuous and reliable operation. Updates and Enhancements: Detail the updates and system enhancements implemented over the system's lifetime. Explain the rationale behind these changes, their impact on functionality, and the methods used to ensure continuity of operation during the updates. Improved Operational Matrix: Discuss the tangible benefits and improvements achieved in the operational matrix of the PMS as a result of updates and enhancements. This could include efficiency gains, reduced downtime, or enhanced overall performance. Lessons Learned: Share valuable lessons learned from the entire process, including commissioning, identifying operational difficulties, and implementing updates. Discuss how these lessons informed decision-making for ongoing maintenance and future projects.
