Design and Control of an Improved Four-Phase SRM Drive Using a 4-Level Converter
The paper presents a novel speed control topology for 4-phase Switched Reluctance Motors (SRMs) for EVs. The design is based on a MOSFET-switching enhanced four-level converter providing four-modes of operation which are operated in levels for minimizing the torque ripple. Using MATLAB/SIMULINK Software, an 8/6 4-phase SRM is simulated using the proposed converter and controller, the controller here is a closed loop control of voltage PWM SRM drive with an inner current loop. The simulation data validated the torque ripple-reducing capability of the suggested converter in the SRM control process. Based on simulation outcomes a comparative analysis is performed.
