Investigation of Modified SEPIC converter with P&O based MPPT for Solar PV
A DC-DC converter is necessary in solar photovoltaic (PV) systems to control the fluctuating DC voltage generated by PV cells. An enhanced DC-DC topology that can efficiently raise and stabilize the output voltage while guaranteeing optimal power extraction is the Modified Single Ended Primary Inductor Converter (SEPIC). When used in conjunction with Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) approaches, this converter dynamically modifies its output in response to changing environmental conditions. The Perturb and Observe (P&O) MPPT algorithm is essential for tracking the maximum power point of the system and reducing oscillations brought on by changes in the surrounding environment. Under changing power demands, the Modified SEPIC Converter with P&O based MPPT enhances system performance, lowers losses, and increases energy efficiency. While extra parts and control methods, such as artificial neural networks, increase the design complexity, ANN based MPPT, the converter achieves more efficiency in real-time applications, providing an excellent balance between flexibility and efficiency. It is perfect for renewable energy systems due to its capacity to function in both step-up and step-down modes.
