Frequency Control Management in Interconnected Islanded Port Incorporating Nonlinear Control Strategy with Cogeneration
The performance of interconnected microgrids is investigated in this study with particular focus paid to load balancing, frequency administration, and grid stability. A shipboard microgrid and a marine microgrid are the two distinct isolated microgrid systems under study. Archimedes Wave Energy Conversion, Tidal Power Generation, and Photovoltaic Energy are examples of renewable energy sources that are a part of the maritime microgrid. Along with adjustable loads like freezers and heat pumps, it also contains controlled generations like Micro Hydro Turbine Generators and Biodiesel Generation Units. In area 1, a battery energy storage system serves as a backup. In addition to controlled generation such as micro hydro turbine generators and biodiesel generating units, the shipboard microgrid consists of geothermal, wind turbine generators, and solar towers. Additionally, it has controllable loads like freezers and heat pumps, with area-2 backup being Capacitor Energy Storage. Energy storage devices, dynamic loads, and a range of conventional and renewable energy sources define microgrids. A Fractional Order PID controller is used for Load Frequency Control, and it is optimized utilizing the Mountain Gazelle Optimization (MGO), Chimp Optimization Algorithm, and Swarm Optimization algorithms. The MGO algorithm is contrasted with other metaheuristic techniques like CHOA and SO. It is distinguished by its excellent convergence ability and parameter freedom. In comparison to previous optimization strategies, simulation results show how well the MGO-FOPID controller minimizes frequency deviation, area control error, and power fluctuations under a range of load circumstances.
