Analysis of DPC Techniques Used in DFIG Based WECS
Direct Power Control (DPC) has become a widely researched technique for controlling Doubly Fed Induction Machine (DFIM) based Wind Energy Conversion Systems (WECS). The control operation of DPC during grid voltage imbalance, voltage dip, and non-constant switching frequency has been an area of significant interest for many researchers. This paper presents a selective analysis of recent studies on the DPC of DFIM with the aim of identifying gaps in the current literature. The paper focused on three aspects: optimization techniques used in control blocks, performance evaluation parameters, and parameters of AI models used. It is observed that more research attention is needed on the estimation block using AI techniques other than Fuzzy and Artificial Neural Networks (ANN). Additionally, real-time performance analysis through hardware implementation of WECS is necessary, and the evaluation of other parameters besides Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) and power ripple reduction is critical in assessing the performance of proposed control strategies. Overall, this paper provides valuable insights into potential areas for further research aimed at improving the performance and robustness of DPC control of DFIM-based WECS.
