Voltage Regulation of DC-DC Boost Converter Using PI Controller in Cascade Control Structure
In this paper, a simple PI controller for voltage regulation of the DC-DC boost converter having non-minimum phase characteristic is presented. The structure of the proposed controller is designed in a cascade mode. To apply the controller, the transfer function of the DC-DC boost converter is modelled using state averaging technique. The control parameters of the suggested PI controllers are -obtained using an optimization technique-Differential Evolution by minimizing a suitable performance measure. The suggested control technique is investigated in MATLAB/Simulink for set-point tracking and disturbance rejection for voltage regulation under changes in input voltage and load-resistance. Finally, robustness of the proposed controller is also analyzed by introducing parametric perturbations in boost converter circuit model. The hardware validation of the proposed controller is being carried out in the laboratory and it will be reflected in the modified version of this paper.
