Satin Bowerbird Optimized Automatic Generation Control with Cyber Resilient Mechanism
The communication infrastructure of the modern power systems helps to improve the benefits of Automatic Generation Control (AGC) but vulnerable to cyber threats. Therefore, this paper suggests AGC of interconnected power system with cyber resilient mechanism to discriminate the cyber-attacks from the normal load perturbations and to initiate the control operation of the plants. For AGC, proportional-integral-derivative (PID) controllers are used in the secondary control loops of interconnected areas and the gains of the controllers are optimized with satin bowerbird optimizer (SBO) using integral square error as fitness function. Prior to control action, attack detection mechanism is used with the help of multiple linear regression to detect the cyber-attacks from the normal load variations. The effectiveness of the scheme is tested on both load disturbances and false data injections to show its discrimination ability and improvements in the AGC response of the power system.
