Procedure for Managing Urban Solid Waste Micro-Routes with Recyclers in the Municipality of Puerto López, Meta (Colombia)

The generation of solid waste must be managed by considering both technical and social aspects to make effective decisions about route design and the development of mechanisms for waste utilization. Starting from the need to design an appropriate procedure, Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and the knowledge of recyclers in the municipality of Puerto López, Meta were utilized. This led to a significant integration in decision-making to identify the areas within the municipality suitable for effective urban solid waste management. Ultimately, the process provided valuable insights into how recyclers and technical knowledge of the territory combined to make decisions and contribute to building sustainability scenarios within the municipality.
