Stability analysis and treatment plan for a loess landslide in Yan’an City

This article starts from the overall stability and stress-strain distribution, and uses the numerical simulation software FLAC3D to establish a three-dimensional calculation model for the H1 and H2 landslides at a certain site in the loess area, and conducts relevant numerical simulation calculations. The current stability coefficient of landslide H1 is 1.13, the stability coefficient under rainstorm condition is 1.09, and the stability coefficient under earthquake condition is 1.08; The current stability coefficient of landslide H2 is 1.09, 1.06 under rainstorm conditions and 1.05 under earthquake conditions. The numerical simulation results indicate that the surface silty clay (landslide deposits) and loess like soil (with slight and self-weight collapsibility) are the main factors controlling the deformation and stability of the two landslides. It is recommended to excavate the weak soil layer in this area and comprehensively treat it by combining methods such as slope making, retaining, and drainage. The stability calculation of the high and steep slope formed after excavation confirms the feasibility of the treatment plan.
