DIC study of the room-temperature tensile experiment of low-carbon steel
This paper presents the room-temperature tensile experiment of low-carbon steel Q235, by use of the three-dimensional digital image correlation (3D-DIC) method. The stress-strain characteristics of low-carbon steel at different stages of the stretching process and the damage evolution in the necking region are analysed. The accuracy of the method is verified by comparison with the results of finite element method. The study provides data support for understanding the mechanical properties of low-carbon steel, which is of significance for material property assessment and structural design in engineering applications.
