Design and Implementation of Virtual Simulation System for Maritime Emergency Drills and Application of Internet of Things

Maritime emergency incidents are serious problems that may not only have a huge impact on ships and seafarers but also cause irreversible damage to the marine ecosystem. Aiming at the problems of frequent, high-risk, and difficult emergency response on board ships during maritime emergency incidents, to improve the maritime emergency response ability and training efficiency of seafarers, a virtual simulation system for maritime emergency drills was developed in combination with the Internet of Things. The system employed advanced virtual reality theory, collaborative interaction algorithms, Internet of Things technology, and real-time rendering to create a realistic ship environment at sea. It also designed and implemented several typical maritime emergency response scenarios, such as firefighting, leakage plugging, and oil pollution prevention. The drill results showed that the system is capable ofsimulating the process and results of maritime emergency incidents, improve the efficiency of emergency training, reducing the probability of emergency incidents, and ensuring the safety of seafarers and ships.
