Electrical study of PVDF-GO nanocomposite film for fractional order capacitor application
Abstract This study reports the realization of electrostatic fractional-order capacitors (FOCs) by the usage of graphene oxide (GO) loaded polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) composites. The Solution-mixing and drop-casting methods were employed to prepare the composite. The dispersed GO within the polymer functions as a micro-capacitor and micro-resistor electrical network, emulating the behaviour of FOCs. The demonstrated fractional capacitance response of graphene-percolated polymer composites having a frequency bandwidth of 500 Hz–300 kHz. Additionally, it is demonstrated that the constant phase angle (CPA) can be precisely controlled from −82° to −88° by changing the loading of graphene oxide within the matrix with weight percentage (wt%) ranging from 1 to 5%. The easy-to-build electrostatic fractional capacitors presented here have potential applications such as their integration on printed circuit boards, Hartley oscillators, capacitive memory effects among others.
