The effect of growth regulator concentrations on the germination of Kaempferia parviflora

Abstract Black turmeric ( Kaempferia parviflora ) is a medicinal plant that has characteristic black rhizomes. The problem that occurs is that the dormancy of black turmeric is quite long, so it is necessary to break the dormancy by applying growth regulators. This research aims to accelerate germination with the right concentration of growth regulators. The study used a randomized complete block design (RCBD) with 5 replications. Giving growth regulators to accelerete budding by immersion for 30 minutes with different concentrations, namely 0 ml/lt, 10 ml/lt, 20 ml/lt, 30 ml/lt, and 40 ml/lt. This research was carried out by sowing black turmeric until 1 leaf appeared. The growth regulator used is a combination of auxin, cytokinin and gibberellin. The results of the research showed that giving a growth regulator of 30 ml/lt had a significant effect on the leaf area variable of 94.176 cm2, but other variables gave high results even though they did not have a real influence. Rhizomes without growth regulators significantly differed in the plant height variable at 1 WAP of 0.986 cm and 2 WAP of 1.992 cm. Therefore, the sprouting of black turmeric can be accelerated by applying a growth regulator of 30 ml/lt.
