PLANNING AND DESIGN OF PUBLIC LIBRARY IN MENTAWAI ISLANDS REGENCY WITH NEO-VERNACULAR ARCHITECTURE APPROACH

Mentawai Islands Regency is one of the districts in West Sumatra province with a geographical position located between 0055'00''-3021'00'' south latitude and 98035'00"-100032'00" east longitude. The locus [specific physical location] of planning is located in North Sipora District on Sipora Jaya street Tuapeijat, Mentawai Islands Regency. This plan will provide educational facilities, namely Public Libraries, which so far do not exist in the Mentawai Islands Regency, it is hoped that it can improve the quality of knowledge and education, especially in the Mentawai Islands Regency. The physical character of the building in this Public Library will use Neo-Vernacular Architecture which combines modern and traditional. This concept carries a philosophy that combines the richness of local traditions with modern developments.
