Se Cuida Mulher: a Knowledge Dissemination App for Engagement in Public Policies for Cervical Cancer Prevention

Cervical Cancer (CC) is the fourth most common cancer among women worldwide, with a higher incidence in low- and middle-income countries. Despite the preventive strategies of the World Health Organization (WHO) and the screening and vaccination efforts promoted by the Unified Health System (UHS), in Salvador, Bahia, adherence to Papanicolau Smears (PS) remains slow, leading to a high rate of incidence and mortality from the disease. Inadequate awareness and the spread of incorrect information about Human Papiloma Virus (HPV), a Sexually Transmitted Infection (STI), testing and vaccination contribute to this low adherence. With the advancement of technology and the increasing use of mobile devices, Digital Learning Objects have proven to be an effective tool for disseminating reliable information. This work proposes the development of the mobile application Se Cuida Mulher, which encourages women to adopt public CC prevention policies. The application provides informational content, videos, and interactive material using the SCORM (Sharable Content Object Reference Model) standard, in addition to offering data about health units, vaccination campaigns, and events, contributing to the awareness and engagement of the female population in cervical cancer prevention.
