St. Sava’s principle as a direction in Serbian pedagogy
The article is devoted to the study of the St. Savior principle as the basis of Serbian pedagogy, particularly spiritual and moral education. The phenomenon of education based on the national-oriented beginning and its influence on the formation of the general cultural tradition of the Serbian people is considered. Modern Serbia and the Republika Srpska are cited as an example of turning to the Sviatoslav tradition in the modern realities of education and upbringing. Sviatosavje as a social phenomenon describes a comprehensive way of thinking, worldview and the way of making decisions, both of an individual and of an entire nation, which has been based on the principles laid down by the first saint and teacher, St. Sava of Srpska, for eight centuries. The author examines the pedagogical views on spiritual and moral education of such contemporary Serbian spiritual authors, researchers and bearers of the St. Sava tradition as St. Nicholas of Serbia (Velimirovic), St. Justin (Popovic) and his disciple, Metropolitan Amfilohije (Radovic) of Montenegro and Primorye. The ways in which these traditional principles of education have been translated into specific activities and initiatives in Serbia and the Republika Srpska are examined separately. An example is given of the "Royal Order of Knights", which aims to revitalize the idea and spirit of Serbia, reflected in the phenomenon of knighthood. The Order organizes the festival "Knight Fest", restores lost traditions, and develops relations with Russia.
