A UWB Notched Antenna with Stair-Cased T-Shaped Ground Plane for Application in Wireless System

In this manuscript, a simple band-notched ultra-wideband (UWB) antenna of monopolar characteristics has been demonstrated which has a square shaped RE with stair cased ground plane with T-shaped structure and slot of U-shape has been symmetrically extracted out from the squared RE for the generation of a 4.90/5.89 GHz notched band for the simultaneous co-existence of narrowband WLAN system and UWB system of operation. The proposed stricture provides the wide operating UWB bandwidth of 2.89 to 13.0 GHz with 127% fractional bandwidth (FB). The proposed antenna exhibits the adequate gain in the desired UWB operation band and provides stable and consistent radiation pattern (RP) for suitable usage in the UWB system of operation.
