Cryptanalysis of RFID Based Authentication Scheme for IoT Environment
The Internet of Things (IoT) has transformed the way devices or systems interact and function, allowing seamless connectivity and automation in various industries. However, as interconnected devices grow, security and authentication issues become increasingly vital. This article explores the importance of authentication in the security of devices and IoT systems, emphasizing the need for robust and reliable mechanisms to verify the identities and permissions of devices, users, and data within the IoT network. This research presents a cryptanalysis of a highly efficient authentication and key agreement scheme based on the elliptic curve Diffie-Hellman (HAKECC) scheme. The model discovered potential risks such as physical tampering, denial of service (DoS), and tag cloning associated with insecure authentication schemes within the IoT ecosystem. By understanding the critical role of authentication in IoT security, organizations and stakeholders can implement effective measures to safeguard their interconnected devices and systems, mitigating potential threats and vulnerabilities in the IoT landscape.
