Investigating Context Dependency in Memory Recognition Tasks in Virtual Reality

This study aims to investigate context dependency in memory recognition tasks in virtual reality. In general, the effect of context on memory recognition is a debatable topic since some studies have found that context matters when memory recognition, while some found it to be not a factor. With the increasing popularity of remote and virtual reality classrooms, it is vital to investigate whether context matters in memory recognition in virtual reality. It can affect learning since recognition is one of the primary means of testing. We conducted a study with 36 participants divided into four groups. They learned the names of forty fishes along with their pictures in either virtual reality or paper, and then they were tested on whether they could recognize the names of the fishes from their pictures. Our results indicate that context did not affect recognition of the names of the fishes.
