Critical Success Factors Influencing Implementation of Road Infrastructure Projects: A Critical Literature Review

Road infrastructure projects play a crucial role in the social and economic advancement of nations. Success in these projects is essential for stakeholders and the broader community. However, the complex nature of construction projects introduces various uncontrollable variables that can impact success. This independent conceptual study aims to identify and prioritize Critical Success Factors (CSFs) for road infrastructure projects. Drawing on the theories of project management, resource-based theory, and participatory development, this study examines factors such as contractor competencies, resource mobilization, stakeholder engagement, political goodwill, and monitoring and evaluation. Through a comprehensive literature review, this paper provides insight into the key determinants of project success or failure, offering a framework for project stakeholders to enhance project outcomes.
