About a method for assessing energy dissipation time in a circuit with a reactive element

This paper presents research aimed at determining the energy dissipation time of a reactive element to a certain level. A capacitor is used as the reactive element, which is described by a linear law with a constant component. In the literature, research on capacitance with a nonlinear volt-coulomb characteristic law and a linear law without a constant component is quite well covered. One of the methods proposed by the authors of this paper for finding the energy dissipation time to a specified level in electrical circuits involves solving the energy balance equation of the circuit with respect to the variable energy dissipation time. The paper considers a first-order circuit. The analysis of such a circuit involves obtaining a characteristic equation that allows finding the solution of the differential equation describing this circuit. The found solution is used to determine the sum of the energy stored in the reactive element and the energy lost in the resistive element. This sum of energies allows determining the energy dissipation time of the reactive element to the specified level. The paper utilizes the mathematical apparatus of differential calculus and theory of electrical circuits.
