Perspectives, Knowledge, and Skills In Maritime Education For Early Childhood

Maritime education for early childhood in the coastal areas of Wakatobi serves as an essential solution. Initial observations revealed fundamental issues in the implementation of maritime education for early childhood education (ECE). Specifically, some teachers have not fully recognized the educational value of introducing children to the local marine ecosystem and integrating maritime studies as an integral part of the curriculum. The purpose of this study is to examine the influence of perspectives, knowledge, and skills on maritime education. This research employs a quantitative method with an ex post facto approach. Data analysis techniques include prerequisite tests such as normality and multicollinearity tests, as well as hypothesis testing using t-test, F-test, and R² test. Data collection was carried out using a research questionnaire. The results of the study indicate that teachers' perspectives significantly affect maritime education. This implies that when teachers possess broader perspectives, they are better equipped to enhance their potential in delivering maritime education to early childhood learners. Teachers' knowledge also significantly influences maritime education. In other words, when teachers have extensive knowledge, it improves their ability to provide effective maritime education for ECE. Additionally, teachers' skills significantly impact maritime education, demonstrating that when teachers have well-developed skills, they can maximize the quality of maritime education provided to early childhood learners. Furthermore, perspectives, knowledge, and skills collectively have a simultaneous effect on maritime education for early childhood. This conclusion is supported by the results of the F-test (simultaneous test), which showed an F-value of 255.070 and a significance level (sig) of 0.000. Since the significance value of 0.000 is less than 0.05, it is concluded that there is a significant influence of perspectives, knowledge, and skills on maritime education for early childhood.
