Integrity monitoring of the real-time precise satellite orbit and clock correction products in the range domain

Abstract Real-time precise satellite orbit and clock correction products are the fundamental information for precise point positioning (PPP) to achieve decimeter or even centimeter-level positioning accuracy. Integrity monitoring of the correction products is crucial to achieve a reliable PPP, which significantly impacts the application of PPP in safety-critical fields, such as autonomous vehicle location. Code-based user differential range error integrity monitoring methods are limited by the insufficient detection power for the PPP. The traditional phase-based quality monitoring methods leveraged for the correction products in the range domain mainly focus on the fault detection. Since the integrity bound of the correction products has not been evaluated rigorously, the traditional methods are challenged by the missed detection errors controlling. The required integrity risk and continuity risk are therefore difficult to be satisfied, simultaneously. In this contribution, an integrity monitoring method of the real-time precise satellite orbit and clock correction products in the range domain has been proposed to achieve sufficient detection power in controlling the missed detection errors. The continuity risk of the correction products is constrained based on the test statistic constructed from the equivalent ranging error of satellite orbit and clock. To evaluate the integrity bound of the correction products, the protection level in the range domain is developed by conservatively bounding the integrity risk. One-year real-world data experiments have shown that the proposed method can effectively detect the correction products faults and achieve an average availability of 99.98%.
