Pigmented variant of polymorphous light eruption versus actinic lichen planus: Clinicodemographical features of 18 patients—A case series
Polymorphous light eruption (PMLE) is the most common photodermatosis. It belongs to the category of acquired idiopathic photodermatoses. It has been reported that in dark-skinned individuals, the pinhead papular variant is the most common. However, in South India, we observe that pigmentary changes are more commonly observed. Specifically, the pattern consists of hyperpigmented scaly plaques surrounded by hypopigmented papules. We report the clinical and demographical characteristics of 18 patients with such a pigmented pattern of PMLE.
