Experimental research on bonding performance of CFRP/Al6061 joint based on biomimetic structural surface by laser
• A biomimetic structure was prepared on the surface of CFRP using laser to improve its adhesion performance. • Studied the adhesion properties of CFRP surfaces with different biomimetic structures. • Establish a mapping relationship between biomimetic structures and the physical and chemical properties of CFRP surfaces. This study is inspired by the phenomenon of geckos crawling freely, and proposes to prepare a gecko like sole adhesive structure on the surface of CFRP to address the problem of low bonding strength in aerospace CFRP joints, in order to improve the bonding performance of CFRP joints. By establishing a mapping relationship between the surface morphology, surface energy, bonding strength, and failure modes of biomimetic structured CFRP, the influence mechanism of biomimetic structural size parameters on the adhesion of CFRP surface was studied. Research has found that the surface adhesion of CFRP modified with biomimetic structure laser is significantly improved, and there is an optimal biomimetic bristle length and inclination angle that maximizes the bonding strength of CFRP adhesive parts, with a maximum increase of 56.8%. This provides theoretical guidance for the preparation and development of aerospace CFRP adhesive parts.
