Advanced three-dimensional deformation measurement techniques for the steel-framed Taipuzha powerhouse
This paper presents the development and validation of an innovative measurement system designed for real-time monitoring of the Taipuzha powerhouse structure located in Suzhou. The structure's integrity, subject to dynamic loads such as wind, necessitates accurate monitoring. Traditional methods often fail in such scenarios due to complexity and scale. Utilizing finite element analysis (FEA) in ANSYS Workbench, the deformation behavior of the structure under various load conditions was assessed, guiding the strategic placement of measurement points. The measurement system, comprising laser distance meters and photodetector arrays, provides high-precision, three-dimensional displacement data. This setup allows for continuous monitoring of structural deformations, offering significant advantages over existing technologies in terms of precision, cost-effectiveness, and robustness. The system successfully captures small-scale deformations as predicted by FEA, ensuring the structure's safety. This paper demonstrates the potential of the proposed measurement technology for enhancing structural health monitoring in large-scale engineering projects.
