Exploration of kecombrang plants as a germplasm resource in Padang Pariaman Regency, West Sumatra
Abstract Kecombrang ( Etlingera elatior ), renowned for its richness in antioxidants, serves as a versatile and invaluable component in both culinary and traditional medicinal practices. Nonetheless, the gradual decline of this botanical species, particularly in the Padang Pariaman Regency of West Sumatra Province, highlights the urgent need for an exhaustive exploration and the systematic collection of germplasm. The outcomes of our exploration efforts have identified a solitary habitat, nestled at an elevation of 30 meters above sea level, exclusively within the Batang Gasan sub-district of Padang Pariaman Regency. These kecombrang specimens, meticulously harvested during this undertaking, will subsequently be subject to ex-situ propagation and comprehensive morphological assessment. This endeavor contributes significantly to the meticulous inventory and overall conservation of kecombrang plant data.
