Research on Acoustic Emission Recognition Technology of Weld Defects in High Temperature Coke Tower

Coke tower is the primary high-temperature equipment of coking plant in petrochemical industry, and its welds are very prone to damage due to high temperature and cyclic loading, which poses a major hidden danger to the safe operation of the equipment, therefore, real-time on-line monitoring and identification of weld damages have always been a highly concerned issue in the industry. This paper presents a study of the acoustic emission identification technology used to detect weld damage in high-temperature coke towers. It proposes an acoustic emission identification method for monitoring the dynamic evolution of weld damage and discusses its application in a field setting. The results show that the acoustic emission signal can effectively reflect the dynamic evolution process of weld damage, and the location of weld damage and the evolution state of damage can be accurately identified according to the mean value of the amplitude and the mean value of the signal strength of the acoustic emission signal. This technique offers an effective technical solution for the efficient identification of the dynamic evolution of weld damage in high-temperature coke towers.
