Histoplasma capsulatum mimicking lung cancer in a returning traveller
Histoplasmosis can present atypically. We demonstrate a case of an immunocompromised patient returning from Panama, presenting with: fever, respiratory symptoms, and lymphadenopathy, initially raising suspicion of pneumonia or malignancy. Diagnosis was delayed due to atypical presentation and limited tissue biopsies. Treatment challenges arose, requiring triazole therapy adjustments.
