Benchmarking SDN Controllers: Performance Analysis of POX and Floodlight in DCell Data Centre Topology
This study presents a comparative performance analysis of two SDN (Software Defined Networking) controllers, POX and Floodlight in a DCell data centre architecture. Using a simulated Mininet environment, the investigation measures critical network performance indicators namely round-trip time (RTT), latency, jitter and throughput. The scalability and resource utilization of both the controllers under varying traffic condition has also been examined. The findings shows that POX achieves lower latency, reduced RTT and better throughput making it preferable for time-sensitive applications. Whereas, Floodlight delivers more stability in jitter. The outcomes provide insights for optimizing controller selection in data centre deployments.
